Police officer’s house burgled

BANGALORE: Burglars struck at a police officer’s house at a police quarters in Ashoknagar police station limits and looted gold ornaments and cash.

The police said the incident, which came to light on Saturday, took place at inspector Susheela’s house in the Corps of Detectives (CoD) block of the Police Quarters in Austin Town.

Ms. Susheela works as an inspector in CoD. For the past few days, Ms. Susheela and her husband Raghupathi have been staying at her mother’s house in Vibuthipura.

The theft came to light when Mr. Raghupathi came to his house around 10 a.m. on Saturday, the police said.

The burglars had made away with Rs. 11,000 cash, a gold bracelet, a necklace and a wristwatch after ransacking the house.

On a complaint by Mr. Raghupathi, the Ashoknagar police have registered a case.

Suicide

Nandini (27), a mother of two, committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Doddabidarakallu in Peenya police station limits on Friday. She was the wife of Umesh, proprietor of a provision shop.

The Peenya police, who have registered a case, said Nandini had taken the extreme step as she was suffering from chronic stomach pain.

Arrested

The Chickpet police have arrested three persons from Bidar who had allegedly cheated 14 women and bank customers.

They have recovered from them gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 5.50 lakh and Rs. 25,000 cash.

In some cases, the accused had posed as policemen and cheated the women of their gold jewellery.
