Dissolution of the Assembly is certain, says Muniyappa BHADRAVATI: Union Minister for Surface Transport and Highways K.H. Muniyappa has said that there is no question of forming an alternative coalition government by the Congress in the State as dissolution of the Assembly and holding of mid-term polls were certain. Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, he said that the Congress would not truck with any party for the coming Assembly elections in the State, but contest alone as it was confident of forming a government on its own with a comfortable majority. He, however, said that the Congress was not averse to coalition arrangement and that the party had allied only with secular parties not only at the Centre, but also in some States such as Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Mr. Muniyappa said that the proposal by the State Government for 1,000 km of national highway was under consideration. He said out of the 66,000 km of national highway roads in the country, 3,800 km was in the State. He said he would take up the request of the State Government to allot 170 acres near Hospet for mining purposes to Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Ltd. in Bhadravati with the authorities concerned.
