75 special medical teams to tackle 5 affected mandals

’Vacant posts of ANMs, doctors to be filled’

UTNOOR (ADILABAD DT.): A special sum of Rs. 25 lakh has been sanctioned for the improvement of medical facilities in the fever-ravaged tribal mandals. The money will be spent to strengthen the present medical system in order to control the rampant fevers.

Health Minister Sambani Chandrasekhar announced this on Sunday as a measure of preventing further loss of life among tribal children. He said the money will be kept at Collector Ahmad Nadeem’s disposal to be spent wherever warranted.

The Minister told reporters after reviewing the epidemic-like situation with officials that 75 special medical teams have been constituted to deal with the situation in the five mandals of Indervelli, Utnoor, Jainoor, Narnoor and Sirpur (U). He warned that negligence on the part of officials will not be tolerated.

Posts to be filled

Referring to the study carried out by a team of doctors in the badly-hit areas, the Minister ruled out malaria as being rampant. He further said, studies will continue to pin-point the causes of deaths. Vacant posts of ANMs and doctors will also be filled up, he added.
