Satirical message on vehicular pollution

Staff Reporter

The exhibition is being conducted for the third year

Eminent cartoonists will display their works

BANGALORE: It is said that a picture conveys a thousand words. One cartoon should convey even more to the viewer.

With a view to exploit the popularity of cartoons to convey a desired message, the State Transport Department has been making use of this medium to create awareness on vehicular air pollution. The department, in association with the Karnataka Cartoonists’ Association, is organising an exhibition of cartoons from November 28 to 30 at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat here.

The exhibition, being conducted for the third successive year, was preceded by a State-level cartoon competition where budding cartoonists put down their ideas on vehicular air pollution.

This year’s entries of Yogesh L. Shettigar from Hyderabad, Prakash Shetty from Bangalore and Abhi Gowda from Bangalore were judged the first, second and third best cartoons.

The sketches of V. Gopal, Bangalore, Namadeva Kagadagara, Bellary, Girish M. Kudithkar, Haveri, B.G. Nagaraj, Bangalore and Manavi Puligal, Bangalore, received the judges’ appreciation.

Entries

Over one hundred cartoons entered in the competition will be on display during the exhibition, along with the works of eminent cartoonists in the State.
