dated November 26, 1957: U.S. news coverage

Mr. Robert H. Estabrook, Senior Editor of the Washington Post, said in Madras on November 24 that the people of the U.S. had nothing but friendly feelings towards the Indian people, although there might be points of difference on certain issues. He however thought that there was a large area of agreement between the two countries. He clarified that while the U.S. was not for starting a war, they were only anxious to build up their strength to protect themselves against any possible danger to their existence. Mr. Estabrook, who arrived in Madras on November 23 from Calcutta, left this morning by air for Colombo in connection with the International Press Institute’s Regional Conference being held at Kandy.
