10 injured as gas balloon bursts

BHUBANESWAR: At least 10 persons sustained burns when a huge gas balloon burst at the venue of the ongoing Puri beach festival at Puri on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred when a group of people was about to release the gas-filled balloon to the open sky as part the promotional exercise of a hotel company.

The injured were rushed to the district headquarter hospital. While three of them were released after first-aid, the remaining seven were undergoing treatment, according to the police.

The victims sustained burns of various degrees, the highest being 20 per cent and all were out of danger.
