BHUBANESWAR: Emphasising the need for strengthening public awareness against child labour in the country, child delegates from 21 States vowed to check the demeaning practice at their level by forming community-based children committees. Children spelt out their priorities to prevent child labour from the grassroot level at a public hearing organised on the sidelines of fourth National Children Convention that concluded here recently. They advocated free and compulsory education, medical facility and adequate security for the children adding that the Government should implement anti-child labour laws strictly and set up schools in remote areas. National convenor of Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL) Ranjan Mohanty spoke.
