Child swimmers lead demo against AP projects

BERHAMPUR: Child marathon swimmers from Gajapati district, Puja Mohanty and Rajkishore Mohanty, led a silent demonstration held in the city against the proposed irrigation projects of Andhra Pradesh over the Mahendratanaya.

This demonstration was organised by the Rashtriya Oriya Yuvak Pratisthan. The organisation has decided to persuade the Orissa Government to intervene and stop Andhra Pradesh from taking up this proposed irrigation project on the river. As areas of Gajapati district “would be affected by this proposed project”, child prodigies from Gajapti district led this silent protest demonstration.
