The AP Transport Commissioner Poonam Malakondaiah deserves compliments for taking measures to strictly implement the rule book of the department in view of the ever increasing road accidents. The steps taken by the department for fixing of digital meters to autorickshaws is in the right direction as the auto drivers have been harassing the common man with tampered meters. Besides rash driving and overtaking, parking of vehicles on the main roads in the night and parking by the side without parking lights, headlights without shades are some of the causes for road accidents. The RTA Commissioner’s efforts in the strict implementation of the MVA rules deserves compliments. Hope she concentrates in the districts and villages also for the proper implementation of MVA rules. J.P. Reddy, Nalgonda Lopsided thinkingThe decision of RTC Tirupati to have ‘Volvo corners’ with luxurious lounge and top class facilities for a miniscule number of Volvo passengers, while thousands of bus passengers suffer due to inadequate facilities is a clear case of lopsided thinking. The coffers of RTC are filled by these passengers and not by the Volvo bus passengers. Their needs are to be given top priority. Platforms are always crowded and stalls encroach on the limited space. Passengers moving from platforms in the new block to the platforms in the main block find the experience daunting with many incoming and outgoing buses. Canteen food is expensive and not prepared hygienically. Toilets located in the main block are not adequate for the heavy pilgrim influx. There is need for more toilets at different points.y maintained. A devotee visiting the Lord should not return with a feeling that he has been exploited by all. M Onnuraiah Chetty, Nandyal Hardship at level-crossingThe problems the Ramachandra Nagar manned level-crossing in Anantapur Town are unending. The narrow passage is always crowded with heavy traffic. Many people who use the passage sustain injuries and damages to vehicles in the jostling. No security guard is posted at the gate to control traffic and alert people about trains. Making matters worse, goods laden trucks that ferry goods from the goods train also pass through the same gate. The works on the over bridge being built to divert the traffic is going on at snails pace. I request the authorities to streamline the traffic and take steps to complete the construction as early as possible. G. Jagannadh, Anantapur
