Balancing act: Cadets demonstrating at NCC Day celebrations in Sangareddy on Sunday.

SANGAREDDY: Medak Collector B.Venkatesam said that NCC training must be made compulsory for young men and women of the country to defeat the nefarious designs of the extremists bent on creating a rift in the society.

He was addressing the NCC day celebration of the 33 Andhra battalion at the Stadium grounds here on Sunday. The Collector said that population would not be a problem any more if it is disciplined.

He said that 60 per cent of the population of the country was under 35 years of age and by inculcating discipline and a sense of sacrifice the baby boom could be turned into strength.

He pointed out that compulsory military training could be seen in countries like Singapore.

Praiseworthy

Commending the work that the NCC has done in the times of natural calamities, Venkatesam said that the NCC training provides panacea for social evils and also strengthens the cadets physically. Earlier the Collector hoisted the NCC flag and revised the parade.

He also inaugurated a blood donation camp. Group commander Colonel Ranjit Kumar Baruah also spoke. Later cadets performed group activities like Pyramids, Yoga and group dances. The parade was commanded by Parade officer Ranganath.
