Camera, action: Akkineni Nagarjuna, Amala and Ramya Krishna at the launch of the new television serial ‘Yuva’ recently. The allure of small screen has always enticed big screen stars. And they have joined the telly in different capacities. If some chose to be there on the small screen and reach out through serials or shows, others preferred to produce entertaining content. Latest is film star Nagarjuna whose Annapurna Studios is all set to start telecast the serial ‘Yuva’ on MAA TV. Directed by Sabiha, being introduced to the television by Nagarjuna, the serial promises to be a quality entertainer offering clean viewing for the entire family. Fresh talent on screen and also behind the camera does raise some fresh hopes for entertainment starved audience. Introducing new faces, Rashmi, Karuna, Vishwa, Monali and others, ‘Yuva’ is to come across as a breezy youthful affair with a contemporary look in terms of treatment and backdrop. “The serial is starting on December 1 and will be telecast at 8.30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays,” says Sabiha. Nagarjuna, who met Sabiha during the shoot of ‘Sri Ramadasu’ where she was assisting K. Raghavendra Rao, says he was impressed by the story idea and found her to be one of the most talented directors in the making. “I like her attitude towards life and her craft,” he says. Instinct or institution, most of his efforts to bring youngsters on the scene met with success. The actor says making or losing money with certain projects does not matter. “I will be happy if ‘Yuva’ is successful and will accept if viewers do not like it,” affirms Nagarjuna. New soapsTwo new serials start this week on Zee Telugu. ‘Amrutham’, the sitcom will be on at 9 p.m. from Monday to Thursday while a new soap ‘Edadugulu’, story of a simple minded girl battling betrayals and unforeseen circumstances, is slotted at 7.30 p.m. T.LALITH SINGH
