Bangalore: The role of women in India’s economy has never been clearer than it is today, even as the country celebrates predictions that it will emerge as an Asian superpower by 2025. Industry leadersWomen hold up the agricultural sector and they have asserted themselves as industry leaders. To explore the role of women in a changing economy and assess the role of the State, market and society in this globalised economic environment, an international conference on the theme, “Silence to Voice: Problems and Possibilities” will be organised in the city. Gender relationsResearch scholars, academics, policy-makers, gender experts, representatives of various non-governmental organisations and the media will share their experiences during the conference. The international conference will also explore mechanisms to strengthen gender relations in developing countries. It will be held on Monday and Tuesday at Christ College on Hosur Road here.
