NEW DELHI: Two hundred and fifty children armed with paints and brushes turned up to display their artistic skills at Harcourt Butler Senior Secondary School on Mandir Marg here on Sunday at the 13th annual Hindu Young World On The Spot Painting Competition. Over 35 schools from across the Capital and its neighbouring regions participated in the contest. The competition was held in two categories -- “Juniors” (Class IV to VII) and “Seniors” (Class VIII to Class X). The topic for the junior section was “Deepavali scene” and Shriya Mondal, a Class VII student of Summer Fields School at Kailash Colony, emerged triumphant. The second prize was won by Tulika of Amity International School at Gurgaon, while the third prize was bagged by Soham Paul of Amity International School in Noida. The topic for the senior category was “Going to school on a rainy day”. Here, Susnata Paul of Amity International School in Noida came up trumps, while Bahaar Jain of Carmel Convent School stood at second place. The third prize went to Manoj Kumar of Salwan Boys Senior Secondary School at Old Rajinder Nagar. Susnata Paul had bagged the first prize at the last year’s painting competition as well. Cash prizesIn both categories, cash prizes of Rs.1,250, Rs.1,000 and Rs.7,50 were awarded to the first, second and third places respectively. Consolation prizes of Rs.200 each were also handed out. All the participants were awarded certificates. Eminent artists M. S. Rawat and R. P. Dabral adjudicated the contest.
