Couple robbed at hotel

An aged couple was robbed at knife point at a city hotel near the railway station on Sunday. According to the four-town police, Janakiramayya, 60, from Vijayawada and his wife had checked into the hotel on Saturday. On Sunday morning, a waiter came to the room on the pretext of enquiring whether they wanted hot water. He flashed a knife and robbed the couple of valuables. Police said seven tolas of gold ornaments and Rs.10,000 were snatched. The waiter had joined the hotel six days ago.
