Flats registration move unfortunate, says Chautala

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has termed the decision of the Haryana Government to “force” the members of Cooperative Group Housing Societies to get their Flats/Apartments registered as unfortunate.

INLD President and former Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala has in a statement issued here on Sunday demanded withdrawal of this “autocratic step”.

He asserted that the decision to increase the income of the Government through stamp duty would adversely affect the members of the Housing Societies.

Mr. Chautala further alleged that the State Government’s action was “undemocratic, exploitative and anti-poor.”

The former Chief Minister said that most of the members of Cooperative Group Housing Societies were small employees and lower and middle strata people who had built their small houses by taking loans from the banks.
