Special teams formed
ERODE: Ten special teams consisting of veterinary doctors have been formed in Erode district to combat the foot-and-mouth disease.
The teams will go round the rural parts and conduct a survey.
Erode is one of the worst-hit districts. In Periyapuliyur village in Bhavani taluk more than 250 head of cattle died about a month back.
After this incident, the secretary to the Government Animal Husbandry Department, Leena Nair visited the area. Few days back, it affected more than 30 head of cattle in Sathyamangalam area, 20 in Bhavani area and 15 in Sittar, Kesarimangalam, Kurichi and Manickkampalayam villages in Bhavani taluk. A team of veterinary doctors visited these places. — Staff Reporter
