Boy killed, two held
VILLUPURAM: The Marakkanam police have arrested two persons for abducting and killing a 10-year-old boy, R. Deva alias Manikandan of Marakkanam. Hari, (22) of Marakkanam in Villupuram district, and Sathyamurthi (23), of Vidaal in Kancheepuram, confessed to having demanded a ransom of Rs.7 lakh from Manikandan’s father, Ramamurthi, and killing the boy.
Mr. Ramamurthi, lodged a complaint with the Marakkanam police after his son did not return from school on November 21. The abductors confessed to kidnapping the boy from outside his school. When he started screaming, they gagged him. But the boy died of suffocation after a while. They later buried the body in a jungle in Cheyyur, located in Kancheepuram district.
