NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit China on January 12 and 13 to further improve bilateral ties as well as put India’s ‘Look East’ policy on a surer footing. With frequent interactions at higher levels having helped smoothen bilateral ties, the visit is expected to see the two sides exchanging views on expanding economic ties, attempting congruence on regional and global issues and conciliation on the border issue, said highly placed government sources. Speaking on the border talks, they said, “we have made progress and there are some points of congruence. We are working towards addressing the rest. Hopefully, we would have gone much further when the Prime Minister goes to Beijing.”
Apart from both sides reiterating their willingness to find “a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution” to the “boundary question,” they expressed readiness to take “the India-China Strategic and Cooperative Partnership for Peace and Prosperity” to the next level.
