Ban parking

The road from Statue to General Hospital Junction is very narrow. There are prominent hotels, restaurants, small shops and other business establishments along the stretch. Cars and other vehicles are seen parked on one side of the road. It is difficult to drive through the road.

Pedestrians also face hardships as they do not have space to walk. Widening of this stretch is the only solution. But, as a first step parking should be banned there.

Not so convenient

The public convenience station near the district Collectorate at Vanchiyoor has not been functioning for the past several months.

This has caused much hardship to those visiting the Collectorate, district court, office of the SSA Board, District Information Office and other institutions located in the vicinity.

District Tourism Promotion Council was maintaining this station.

Authorities should look into the matter urgently and do the needful.

Prevent road accidents

Of late, there has been an increase in road accidents in the city. Rash driving, speeding and the deplorable conditions of the roads are the main reasons for the rise in accidents. Drivers appointed by the KSRTC should be given adequate training. The condition of the road is also an important contributory factor. Private bus drivers do not seem to take traffic rules seriously. For them, these rules are observed more in the breach. While the police department is strict in insisting on ‘pollution control certificate’ from private motorists, it is conveniently turning a blind eye to KSRTC buses.

Further, on National Highways and M.C. Road, most of the sign boards are rusty or illegible.
