Six killed in accidents in the district

Thiruvananthapuram: There was a spate of road accidents in the district on Sunday which left six persons dead and several others injured.

Couple dead

Zacharia Gomez (70) and his wife Bridgit (65) were killed when the bike on which they were travelling collided with another bike. The couple, residents of Valiaveli, were on their way to the Vettucaud church when the accident happened. Though they were rushed to the KIMS hospital, they could not be saved. Three youths who were travelling on the other bike involved in the accident were injured.

In Neyyatinkara

A 35-year-old youth, Binu, was killed when the motorbike he was riding was hit by a car in Plathumuri, Neyyattinkara. He was a resident of Chengal. Vijayadas, also from Chengal, has been admitted to the Medical College hospital with injuries.

Two dead

Two persons were killed when the bike on which they were travelling was hit by a lorry at the Kallara-Pulippara junction in the afternoon.

They were identified as Salahuddeen (40), a resident of Kallara-Pangode and Rajeev (40), also from Kallara.

The bodies have been kept in the MCH mortuary.

In Koppam

In another accident involving two cars that occurred at Koppam around 10 p.m., one person was killed while eight others were injured.

The deceased was identified as Mohanan Nair (48), a resident of Venjaramood.

The body has been kept in the MCH mortuary.
