Spine centre inaugurated

It has come up at Wockhardt Hospitals’ Bannerghatta Road facility
The objective is to offer comprehensive treatment

Bangalore: Long hours of working and tight work schedules can result in stressful situations and one of the consequences of this can be back problems and neck pain.

To deal with the growing cases of spine problems, the Wockhardt Hospitals here on Sunday launched a “Spine Centre” at its Bannerghatta Road facility.

The centre was inaugurated by neurosurgeon and Founder Director of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences R.M. Verma.

According to Deshpande V. Rajkumar, consultant neurosurgeon, Wockhardt Hospitals, “The objective is to offer comprehensive management of spine disorder — from birth defects to degeneration of tumour and trauma.

“There is a complete diagnostic facility, including dynamic digital X-rays, Spiral CT scanning, MRI and Electrophysiology unit, all under one roof.”

Lloyd Nazareth, associate vice-president, Wockhardt Hospitals, said that care would be provided for a full spectrum of neck and back injuries and disorders such as compression fractures of the spine, arthritis of the spine, degenerative spinal tumours, spine injuries from road and industrial accidents.

The spine centre also has a rehabilitation centre where focus will be both on preventive rehabilitation and that after surgery, including posture correction, stability and balance exercises and speech training.
