NCC Day celebrated
NCC Day was celebrated at Thavasamuthu Nadar Higher Secondary School at Porayar in Nagapattinam district on Saturday. G. Gopalakrishnan, headmaster of the school, who inaugurated the function, advised NCC cadets to involve themselves in social service activities. V. Krishnamurthy, NCC officer, explained the achievements of cadets of the school.
Prizes distributed
Karur Collector T. N. Venkatesh on Monday distributed prizes to winners of the essay and poetry and painting contests and elocution competition conducted by the Department of Labour Welfare on the occasion of the Children’s Day. The winners included M. Muthukumar (Municipal HSS, Karur) and M. Seetha (Sri Sarada Girls’ HSS, Pasupathipalayam) in essay competitions, S. Sakthivel (Government HSS, Vangal) and M. Dinesh (Municipal HSS, Karur) in poetry competitions, P. Mathangi (St. Teresa Girls’ HSS) and M. Vigneswaran (Municipal HSS, Karur) in elocution contest, and S. Satheesh (Municipal HSS, Karur), K. Gokula Manikandan (Government HSS, Goundampalayam, Puliyur) and M. Vigneswaran (Municipal HSS, Karur) in painting competitions.
District Revenue Officer Jawahar Shanthakumar, Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, M. Madhavi, Social Welfare Officer C. Karpagam, District Supply Officer Jayapal, Inspector of Labour Welfare R. Muthukrishnan, Deputy Inspector of Labour Welfare R. Sivakumar, and others participated in the function.
