“Globalisation has changed education”

Staff Reporter

TIRUCHI: Globalisation has brought in a change in the dynamics of higher education in the country over the last 20 years, the Vice-Chancellor, Pondicherry Central University Jalees A.K. Tareen said on Sunday.

New technologies, innovations and designs that emerged over the years have also contributed in bringing about a change in higher education, he said while addressing at the sixth annual convocation for women at the Jamal Mohamed College here.

The Central Government has accorded a great deal of importance to higher education by making a five-fold increase in the allocation of funds for this sector. Greater emphasis has been laid for access to education, particularly women’s literacy.

Observing that every woman should be educated, Mr. Tareen said one of the reasons for the country’s progress was due to the fact that many women had been educated.
