District leading in NREGS implementation 92,000 SHGs given Rs. 108 cr. under Pavala Vaddi ANANTAPUR: Anantapur is leading in the implementation of several rural development schemes in the recent years and the day is not far away when the district could be clubbed with the group of developed districts, if the nature plays a positive role. The district is foremost in the State in the implementation of NREGS, Comprehensive Land Development Programme (Indira Prabha), Total Financial Inclusion, 25 paise interest scheme-bank linkage and a few others. According to Collector N. Sridhar about 92,000 women SHGs were disbursed Rs. 108 crore of financial assistance under ‘pavala vaddi’ scheme in one day for the first time in the country. Financial assistanceThe women SHGs in the district were disbursed Rs. 181 cr. through bank linkage in the current financial year so far. Last year, the district was in 12th place in the State in the disbursement of financial assistance to SHGs by giving about Rs. 100.5 cr. It jumped to first place after Rs. 181 cr. was disbursed in about six months itself this year. In 2004-05 the disbursement was Rs. 35.45 cr. and Rs. 58.74 cr. in 2005-06 SHGs in 153 villages were already assisted with Rs. 65.5 cr. under the TFI scheme. Besides, the Rs. 32.47 cr. was given to 32,575 SHG members, who were also the beneficiaries of Indiramma housing scheme, as bridge loan with 25 paise interest. In the implementation of NREGS the district had so far spent Rs. 187 cr. by providing 1.89 cr. person days to 5.67 lakh wage seekers out of a total of 6.31 lakh job card holders. Officials who were found to have committed irregularities in the ijob scheme, were also punished.
