MALAPPURAM: The State government will launch a campaign involving cine actors and other celebrities to popularise the use of coconut oil. The campaign will begin in Kochi on December 11. Minister for Agriculture Mullakara Ratnakaran announced this at a district farmers’ conclave here on Monday. Inaugurating the function, the Minister said the absence of indigenous monopolies in coconut oil production was responsible for the fall in prices, not the import of palm oil. He said the government would start procuring coconuts at Rs. 4.40 from December 1. — Staff Reporter
