Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has urged the Prime Minister to take immediate steps for the smooth functioning of the Accountant General’s offices in the State. In a letter to Manmohan Singh on Monday, the Chief Minister pointed out that the functioning of the offices had been remaining affected for the last few months because of the undemocratic stand adopted by the AG towards a section of the employees. The implementation of the one rank one pension scheme of the State government was the bone of contention. The authorities concerned had intervened and settled the issue. But when the AG started taking action against those concerned, it led to agitations again. It was seriously affecting the functioning of the offices. The Chief Minister added that the AG’s stand was not at all helpful to the ending of the agitation.
