Police warns of stringent action
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: The police on Monday warned that stringent action will be taken under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against individuals and organisations taking out processions and conducting public or indoor meetings or debates in support of banned organisations.
In a statement here, Director-General of Police P. Rajendran said condolence meetings, demonstrations, burning of effigies and picketing in support of banned outfits would also attract police action under the legislation.
Supportive activities such as sticking posters, distributing pamphlets, conducting exhibitions and printing of such posters and pamphlets would be suitably dealt with as per the law.
