Student scientist programme

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology will organise the ‘young student scientist programme’ for Standard IX students all over the State.

To begin in January, the programme will be held in five centres covering 10 districts. “The objective is to provide opportunities to students in rural areas to have a feel of the infrastructure and learning processes in institutes of higher learning,” Member Secretary S. Vincent said. It may subsequently help them choose streams in Plus Two and careers.

The Council has tied up with the School Education Department. Chief Educational Officers and Districts Educational Officers will ask headmasters to choose two students of their schools.
