DINDIGUL: Special gram sabha meeting will be convened at all village panchayats in the district on Wednesday to create awareness on photo electoral rolls and to help people know whether their names were included in draft electoral roll or not, according to Collector R. Vasuki. In a release here on Monday, she said names in the electoral roll would be read in public at the meeting. Persons whose names were missing in the list could submit forms in the respective polling stations immediately for necessary action. She appealed to rural people to avail this opportunity and include their names in the electoral roll and make necessary corrections in connection with age, address and relationship, if any in the roll, she added. “The last date for inclusion, deletion and making corrections in the roll is December 8.” Voters who completed 18 years can submit Form-VI along with birth certificate for inclusion of name in voter list. They should also submit form EPIC 001A after affixing two passport size photos. Forms VIII and VIII-A can be submitted for change of name, relationship and address. Copies of draft electoral roll, released by the revenue divisional officers in Dindigul and Palani on November 19, were displayed at the offices of the revenue divisional officers, tahsildars, municipal and panchayat union offices, post offices and at all schools that housed polling stations. Dindigul district has 10,99,901 voters as per draft electoral roll. A total of 754 names were added and 3,053 names were deleted before release of the draft roll. There was 0.2 per cent slump in total voters in Dindigul district after making necessary inclusions and deletions in the electoral roll dated September 2007. The Election Commission had ordered the district administration to convene a special gram sabha meeting to create awareness among people.
