St. Thomas College regains title

PALAKKAD: St. Thomas College, Thrissur, defeated Sree Kerala Varma College by 49 runs and regained the Calicut University inter-zone cricket title after a four-year break at the Fort Ground here on Monday.

St. Joseph’s College, riding on Fahad’s fine allround performance (65 and 4-26), defeated Farook (Feroke) by 80 runs and finished third.

The scores (Final): St. Thomas College, Thrissur, 224 for eight in 45 overs (Tigin 57, Ganesham 40, Vysakh Chandran three for 38) bt SKVC, Thrissur, 175 for nine in 45 overs (Sreejith 27, Rejith three for 26).

For third place: St Joseph’s College, Devagiri, 266 for eight in 40 overs (Fahad 65, Keerthan 49, Namith three for 30) bt Farook College, Feroke, 186 in 35 overs (Namith 52, Akhbar 57, Simnac four for 36, Fahad four for 26). — Principal Correspondent

SB College scores win

SB College, Changanassery and St. Albert’s College, Ernakulam, scored wins in the MG University inter-zone basketball tournament at the University stadium Athrampuzha on Monday.

SB College scored a convincing 95-46 win over Rajagiri School of Management, Kakkanad 95-46 while St. Albert’s College overcame Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirapally 60-59.
