Jazz from Germany
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: Soul swinging music is what Evelin Hust, Director, Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, promises those who attend Radio Indigo’s International Jazz and Blues Festival on December 1 and 2.
Max Mueller Bhavan, in its commitment to present modern German culture to Indian audiences, and with its strategic focus on jazz and contemporary music, will present at the festival Café du Sport – one of the most acclaimed contemporary jazz bands from Germany. Café du Sport has the distinction of bagging the first prize at the prestigious Hennessy Jazz Search 2000, where a jury selected the still-fledgling band from live performances by over 600 candidates at the Cologne Philharmonic Hall.
The band, which is touring South Asia, features Jan von Klewitz on the saxophone, Bruno Müller on guitar, Guido May on drums and Christian von Kaphengst on bass.
Café du Sport will perform at Jayamahal Palace Hotel on December 2. For details, call 2520 5305.
