MANGALORE: Dakshina Kannada District Youth Congress unit has urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to order a high level inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the Government scheme of providing bicycles to students from below poverty line families in Karnataka. It has expressed apprehension of large scale misuse of funds in its implementation. Bondalla Jagannath Shetty, president of the unit told presspersons here on Monday that the Government had purchased bicycles at Rs. 2,030 to Rs. 2,050 each. One of the companies from which the Government purchased the bicycles had quoted Rs. 1,746 to an educational institution in Bantwal in 2006, he said.
