M.P. Prakash BELLARY: Janata Dal (S) leader M.P. Prakash has said that if there is split in the party it will be because of the party president H.D. Deve Gowda and not him. Responding to questions by presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Prakash said Mr. Deve Gowda would be responsible for it (split) because of his unilateral decisions. “I am not trying to split the party. But I am against individuals taking decisions and imposing it on the party. As you (the questioner) have pointed out that Mr. Deve Gowda was responsible for the splits earlier, the party might split again. Let us see what will happen after the party’s executive committee meeting on November 29 and the meeting of like-minded people convened by me on November 28,” he said. Reiterating that he would not attend the party’s executive committee meeting, Mr. Prakash said it lacked sanctity, as zilla and taluk leaders and others had been invited to it, and ultimately it would be like a public meeting. “There is no proper agenda, and preliminary discussions were not held. Under these circumstances, no meaningful discussion is possible at that meeting. Therefore, I have decided not to attend it. I hope that several others in the party, who endorse my views, would also not attend it,” he said. On the reported statement of Mr. Deve Gowda that he would not care if Mr. Prakash decided not to attend the executive committee meeting, the former Minister quipped that the former was aware what happened to the party when he and others were not with Mr. Deve Gowda. Mr. Prakash was here to participate in a book release function.
