Bangarappa wants charges against governments probed

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: President of the State unit of Samajwadi Party S. Bangarappa, MP, on Monday demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the charges of corruption and irregularities made against the governments headed by N. Dharam Singh, H.D. Kumaraswamy and B.S.Yediyurappa, and the Ministers during the last 40 months.

Speaking to presspersons, he said that there were allegations that denotification of lands was resorted to on a large scale during the last 40 months by all the three governments involving hundreds of crores.

Proposals

These governments had approved proposals for denotifying prime lands for which acquisition proceedings were over.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders had made allegations that Rs.150 crore was paid to the then Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Mr. Bangarappa said the allegations were serious and the Union Government should not ignore his demand.

BJP campaigns

He dubbed as “useless” the “Dharma Yatre” and “Janajagruti” meetings by the BJP. There was no sympathy for the BJP.

On the resignation of B.S. Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister, he said it was good for the people and the State.

Mr. Bangarappa, a former Chief Minister, said had the Yeddyurappa government continued, the people would have been put to great hardships.

Mr. Bangarappa said that the Samajwadi Party would field candidates in all the 224 Assembly constituencies.

Invited

The former Chief Minister said the Janata Dal (S) was in disarray. The people did not trust that party any more, the Samajwadi Party leader said.

He invited leaders and workers, who had faith in the policies and principles of the Samajwadi Party, to join it and said they would be welcomed with respect and dignity.

If necessary, he would personally meet leaders and invite them to his party.
