Rajnath’s plea
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh on Monday sought India’s diplomatic intervention on behalf of Indian-origin Malaysians, who have been protesting against alleged discrimination and poor living conditions.
In a statement here, he expressed concern over the plight of the Indian-origin people in Malaysia, who were being “marginalised.”
Lack of job opportunities, discrimination and frustration in the absence of avenues for improving their lives led to the protests.
“A policy of indiscriminate and unlawful demolition of Hindu temples has further hurt the religious sentiments of the Indian-origin people,” Mr. Singh said.
