District plan panel to focus on agriculture

Kakinada: The District Planning Committee constituted under the 73rd and 74th Constitutional amendments has resolved to focus on agriculture on which the local economy is heavily dependent and development of health care and infrastructure sectors.

Funds mobilisation

In the committee’s first meeting held here on Tuesday, members welcomed the setting up of DPCs and suggested to district Collector and DPC member-secretary M. Subrahmanyam to examine the possibility of giving financial autonomy to the DPC lest it remained a mere advisory body without funds at its disposal.
