PANAJI: The 10th edition of the biennial Mumbai International Film Festival for documentary, short and animation films is to be held between February 3 and 9, 2008 at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Mumbai.
Considered the world’s third largest documentary festival, the MIFF has received a record of 228 entries from 37 countries in the international section, and 543 films have been entered in the Indian competition section.
The selection process is almost over and results will be declared shortly, said Mr. Kuldeep Sinha, the Chief Producer of Films Division speaking at a media-interaction programme at the on-going International Film Festival of India-2007 here on Tuesday.
The festival organised by the Films Division, a media unit of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting with active support from the Government of Maharashtra, offers the biggest prize money in this genre of festivals — Rs. 2.5 lakh with a golden conch and Rs. 1.5 lakh with a silver conch. The organisers expect over 5,000 delegates from across the globe. There would be retrospective and special packages, seminars and open forums, Mr. Sinha said.
