NEW DELHI: Indian Oil outplayed South Central Railway 4-0 in a pool ‘B’ match of the Lal Bahadur Shastri hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Tuesday. After a goalless first half, Tyron put Indian Oil ahead in the 48th minute following a penalty corner and followed up with another goal two minutes later. Jasvinder Singh and Ranjodh Singh added a goal each in the last 10 minutes to make it an impressive margin for the oil major. In another pool ‘B’ match, Air India beat Namdhari XI 3-2 after a 1-1 deadlock at the interval. Joga Singh (2) and Girish Pimpale were the Air India scorers while Karamjit slotted in both the goals for the losing team. In pool ‘A’, Army XI and Bharat Petroleum were engaged in a 4-4 draw with Jarnail Singh scoring the fourth goal for BPCL a minute from the end. Gurmeet Singh, Amar Aiyamma and Gurpreet Singh were the other BPCL scorers. For Army XI, Jerum Kujur, A. K. Ekka (2) and Dhananjay Mahadhik were the scorers. Indian Airlines was held to a 1-1 draw by Punjab National Bank in another pool ‘A’ match. Jitender Saroha scored for PNB while Sandeep Singh converted a penalty corner for Indian Airlines.
