Arecanuts packing

MAIN LIVELiHOOD: A worker engaged in packaging of arecanuts in gunny bags at a farm near Kalpetta in Wayanad district. Arecanut industry forms the backbone and sole means of livelihood of nearly six million people in India. Mainly cultivated in Karnataka, Kerala, Assam, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, its production in the country is about four lakh tonnes.
