All out for Madhuri Dixit

M.F. Husain books all seats for ‘Aaja Nachle’ matinee show in Dubai

Dubai: M.F. Husain, a self-confessed fan of actor Madhuri Dixit, has booked an entire show of her comeback film Aaja Nachle, which is releasing in theatres in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday. The film will be released in India on Friday.

The painter, who now lives here, has reserved 194 seats for the 2 p.m. show at Lamcy cinema for his guests from different walks of life.

Madhuri Dixit had taken a holiday from acting after her marriage to surgeon Sriram Nene and while living in Denver, United States.

Husain said the movie tickets would be treated as invitations and each would have his autograph and a sketch of the diva. “I’ll also be exhibiting paintings of Madhuri in the foyer of the theatre. I have made these paintings based on her great hits,” he told Khaleej Times. “In fact, the paintings are a part of a series I have undertaken and will be exhibited some time next year as my tribute to Bollywood, the biggest and greatest movie industry in the world.”

He is painting a series of panels that depict the 100-year history of Indian cinema for the exhibition, which is titled ‘From the Silver Silence of Dadasaheb Phalke to the Golden Dazzle of Madhuri Dixit.’

Dixit, on her part, told the newspaper she was “overwhelmed by his gesture of booking a theatre for my comeback film. I feel very flattered indeed.”

Husain said he felt Indian cinema is a great vehicle that can truly portray and carry the message of Indian culture. About his muse, whose Hum Aapke Hain Kaun he claims to have seen 67 times, the artist said: “She is the quintessence of classical Indian beauty and womanhood. I want others to enjoy the film with me. It’s a tribute to not only her beauty, but also her talent as an actress.” — PTI
