Minimum support price for paddy assured

Srikakaulam: District Collector G. Kishan has assured all-party leaders that the administration will ensure MSP to paddy. Addressing representatives of political parties and millers here on Monday, he said steps had already been initiated to set up paddy purchasing centres. If required, mobile paddy purchasing centres would be set up. He urged farmers not to entertain middlemen but go to the paddy purchasing centres to sell their produce. He sought the cooperation of political parties in this aspect.
Wall posters giving details of price and other aspects had already been despatched. The MSP for ‘A’ grade is Rs.775 and for others it is Rs.745. Representatives of political parties, Kalamata Venkataramana, Ratnala Narasimha Murthy (TDP), Routhu Sitaramaswamy (Congress) and Duppal Ravindra (BJP) pointed out irregularities in weighing paddy. No standard weights were used and farmers were taken for a ride, they said.
