Land allegedly earmarked for Visu International Offer price of land stands at Rs. 7.5 lakh per acre
Land for the landless: TRS leaders occupy the Government land at Gopularam village in Medak district on Tuesday. Sangareddy: The Telangana Rastra Samithi on Tuesday launched its own version Bhoo Poratam’ (land struggle) in Gopularam village of Munipally mandal. The TRS legislators pitched pink flags in the 22 acres of land in survey number 131 abutting the national highway (NH-9). The land was allegedly earmarked for the Visu International Educational Institutions owned by advisor to the government C. Chandrasekhar Reddy. Speaking to the reporters at Gopularam, T. Harish Rao said that the district administration had ignored the application of 50 landless poor of the village and had sent proposals to hand over the land the Visu International. He alleged that C. C. Reddy, who was expected to advise the State government on the welfare and betterment of the poor, had resorted to land grabbing in Medak district. The particular piece of land in question lay adjacent to 150 acres that Mr. Reddy had already purchased. The remaining 22 acres became very crucial to serve his interests. The government had therefore, forced the district administration to alienate the land to the advisor. Mr. Harish Rao alleged that the government advisor misused his position by opening a correspondence with the district administration on his official letter-head. Transactions listTRS MLC R.Satyanarayana, MLA Padma Devender Reddy, district president M.Raghunandan said that ten legislators from Telangana region had submitted a list of such transactions to the Revenue Minister, where outsiders were given preference over local people. So far no action has been initiated in this direction, they alleged. They warned the government that the Bhoo Poratam would continue till the entire government land in Telangana region is freed from illegal occupants. Later, TRS organised a roadshow near Budhera cross roads. Visu issueHowever, Munipally Tahasildar Durgaiah said that Vengal Reddy Foundation had applied for the same piece of land during 2002 and the Visu International in 2006 and the poor of Gopularam in 2007, in that order. The offer price was Rs. 7.5 lakh per acre.
