Bird Race on December 2

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Birdwatchers’ Society of Andhra Pradesh is organising a dawn-to-dusk HSBC-Hyderabad Bird Race on December 2, which will have teams of bird enthusiasts racing against each other to cover the city’s bird spots. Who ever spots the maximum number of birds will be the winner.

The race will be flagged off from Hyderabad Public School at Begumpet at 6 a.m. and continue for 12 hours. Each team, named after a bird found in the region, will be led by an experienced bird watcher.

Winter in Hyderabad is the peak season for spotting elusive birds such as Blue Rock Thrush, Yellow Wagtail, and Northern Pintail, a press note from the Society said on Tuesday.

The race has no fixed route and hence, teams are free to draw their own roadmaps. The team which spots the maximum number of birds will be awarded in a function in the evening. The race has no entry fee and is open to all. Those interested may contact 9989635223 or 9848272520.
