Incident
Raman’s brother and family living in Uganda were visiting India after four years. Both families decided to make full use of their two weeks stay in India and plan a holiday trip. Done at the last minute, he decided to drive around because of difficulties in booking in public transport. They spent their time mostly in travelling. To top it, they had heavy dinners. In the last leg of their trip back home, Mr Raman felt sleepy but continued to drive.
Result
A collision on the way killed Mr. Raman’s nephew and niece on the spot. The other family members suffered at least one fracture. Some of them had multiple fractures. A holiday turned into a horror for both the families, all because of drowsy driving.
Incident
Shankar had received a hard-earned promotion and a big celebration with friends was planned at a holiday resort 80 km from home. After a hard day’s work, all of them enjoy the celebration where a little bit of overeating and drinking was involved. The return trip started well after midnight. Mr. Shankar’s friend who was at the wheel could not resist sleep. The vehicles veered off the road and hit a tree.
Result
Mr. Shankar, who was sitting in the front seat, suffered multiple injuries with a crush injury of the right foot. It had to be amputated.
