Tirupur ECGC settles claim for Rs. 3 crore

TIRUPUR: Tirupur branch of Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC) has settled a claim for Rs. 3 crore to an exporter from here because of non-acceptance of goods by a Canada-based buyer. According to a release from ECGC, V. Dharmarajan, regional manager of ECGC, Chennai, handed over a cheque for Rs. 3 crore to N.B. Kulashekaran, assistant general manager of Corporation Bank at a function here on Friday.
At the exporters’ meeting with the clients of State Bank of India, overseas branch here, Mr. Dharmarajan said Tirupur branch of ECGC had settled claims worth Rs. 5.92 crore for 18 customers, including the one amounting to Rs. 3 crore this year. Tirupur branch had collected a premium of Rs.4.41 crore from April 1 this year.
