Development: P. Anand Raj, Project Officer, DRDA, handing over the credit plan to R. Chandran, Chief Regional Manager, IOB, Tiruchi Region on Tuesday. D. Solomon Paul Jayaraj, left, District Development Manager, NABARD, looks on. TIRUCHI: The Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLCP) for Tiruchi District for 2008-09 prepared by NABARD envisages a credit potential of Rs.1,223.70 crore. For Primary sector, the credit potential is Rs.730.78 crore constituting 59.71 per cenmt of the total plan. While it is Rs.185.05 crore for the secondary sector (15.12 %), for tertiary sector the credit potential is Rs. 307.87 crore (25.16 %). Separate chapters on panchayat raj institutions and agri extension services have been included from the current year. In the context of its Twenty fifth year, NABARD has identified five villages in Thuraiyur block for an integrated development by preparing Village Development Plan, which covers socio-economic, infrastructure and human aspects of development. The five villages are Senappanallur, Sokkanathapuram, Meyyampatti, Vailyampatti and Kalingamudayanpatti. Of the various Rural Infrastructure Development Fund projects in the district, most of the 28 school buildings sanctioned under RIDF XI have been completed and inaugurated. The schools are a pride of NABARD’s intervention as they have been provided with excellent laboratory, toilet with running water facility apart from class rooms. As most of the schools, which have come up with NABARD assistance from the year 2001, do not have furniture, NABARD is providing under RIDF XII furniture for 45 such schools at a project cost of Rs.2.59 crore. Flood protection structures in the rivers of Cauvery and Kollidam have also been sanctioned under RIDF XIII where RIDF assistance will be Rs.197.17 crore. The District Development Manager of NABARD Solomon Paul Jayaraj made a presentation on the PLCP at the Collectorate on Tuesday. P. Anand Raj, Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, handed over the copy of the PLCP to the Chief Regional Manager of Indian Overseas Bank R. Chandran in the presence of the Lead District Manager K. Pandian.
