Krishna Madiga’s action irks CM

‘Wrong to risk lives of differently-abled people who had come for the meeting’

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday expressed his ire at the manner in which Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) president Manda Krishna Madiga tried to pressure the Government by insisting that all the demands raised by him for the welfare of differently-abled persons be redressed instantly.

Dr. Reddy was said to be upset when Minister for Disabled Welfare N. Rajyalakshmi and BC Welfare Minister M. Mukesh met him in the morning and explained the misbehaviour of the protestors with them. Ms. Rajyalakshmi was said to have expressed shock that the agitators had thrown kerosene on her saree. They reportedly told the Chief Minister that Mr. Krishna Madiga was in no mood to relent to their repeated pleas from the Government.

Sources in the Chief Minster’s office said Dr. Reddy took exception to the MRPS founder’s action in putting conditions to the Government.

“This is the not the first time the MRPS leader has resorted to such an act,” Dr. Reddy was quoted as saying. He is believed to have said that the Government would not be cowed down by such threats and explained that the police would not keep quiet if people tried to disturb law and order in the State.

He is also reported to have said that it was wrong to risk the lives of the innocent differently-abled people who had come to attend the meeting in the hope that the Government would redress their grievances.
