Coming to the Capital: Toonz Animation Academy that gives training in 2D and 3D animation. NEW DELHI: With the world’s leading entertainment majors signing up contracts with Indian animation companies, there is a growing demand for animation professionals in the country. Now one of the premier animation institutes in South Asia, Toonz Animation Academy, has opened its Delhi centre to create the next generation of animation professionals. “The launch of the Delhi centre is only one among the major expansion plans we are undertaking. Our centre in Hyderabad will open next month and we plan to open academies elsewhere in key Indian cities,” says Toonz Animation Academy Executive Director Ramaprasad. Toonz Animation Academy offers professional courses in both 2D and 3D animation spread over a period of 12 months. The eligibility criteria for these courses are an academic background stretching up to higher secondary and a passion for creative work. It follows a unique training methodology. “Animation education is not about creating professionals with an understanding of what software tools can do. It is highly imperative to make them understand the concept first and then teach them the tools available to translate imagination and finally the techniques to translate them in animation,” says Piyush Gupta, Centre Head of Toonz Animation Academy. The Academy follows a curriculum designed by international experts like Nik Powell and Barry Parker and offers state-of-the-art training methodologies. A major provider of animation to top U.S. and European producers, Toonz is said to be Asia’s biggest animation studio.
