Broadening horizon: NCC cadets getting to know from firemen the method of donning a breathing apparatus that is used during fire fighting operations. ADILABAD: Training in subjects like fire fighting has kept the attention engaged of the over 750 NCC cadets from the districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Medak. The cadets who are here to attend the ongoing 10 day combined annual training camp seem to have immediately taken a liking for the rescue methods used by the fire fighters as was evident from the enthusiasm displayed by them. Republic DayLt. Col. Indrajit Roy, Commanding Officer of 32 Bn (Andhra) NCC, at Adilabad said cadets D. Santosh, D. Satyanarayana and M. Ranamma have been selected to participate in the coming Republic Day parade at Delhi. “It is also a matter of pride that cadet Santosh has been selected to lead the State’s contingent,” he added. Personnel from the fire department explained the finer points of fire fighting to the cadets who listened in rapt attention. The importance of quoting a land mark while reporting a fire or any other incident that needed the department’s attention was under scored by the speakers. Cadets were made to participate in fire dousing exercise and were given a feel of the breathing apparatus (oxygen mask) used while fire fighting.
