Bhubaneswar: The Orissa government on Wednesday appointed former Director General of Police (DGP) Amarnanda Pattnayak as the new DGP (fire services), the post earlier held by suspended official B.B. Mohanti who remained elusive for more than three months. According to a notification issued by the Home Department, Pattnayak was posted as the new Director General of Police (fire service) and Commandant, Home Guards. The post was lying vacant after Mohanti was suspended on August 24. Official sources said that the government placed Mohanti under suspension on August 24 after a non-bailable warrant (NBW) was issued against him. Mohanti was accused of helping his rape convict son Bitihotra jump parole in Rajasthan. -PTI
